Now that New Year’s fitness resolutions are upon us, it’s time to get serious—and not just about getting back into shape. Working out, then running errands and looking good doing it has never been easier. Whether you take up running, tennis or a weight routine at the gym, there’s a comfortable yet fashionable outfit that works for every scenario.

The hot trend for 2010 workout wear is “crossover apparel”: ensembles that work for multiple sports and move you effortlessly from day to evening. One of the biggest (and outdated) misconceptions is that there is a specific style that needs to be worn for each fitness activity; NOT SO, thanks to updated concepts being touted by the best makers and trend-setters in the field. lululemon athletica has done a fantastic job creating functional fitness clothing for numerous activities. For example, the latest look for runners is a running skirt with shorts built into it. Women working out in a gym can wear comfortable sleek pants once thought to be worn only for yoga. A versatile jacket can take you from the gym to running errands to lunch with the girls. Our pick is the stylish Admiral jacket. It’s made of a special blend of French terry which breathes well, has stretch so it won’t bag out, and lots of pockets for storage.

This concept was precipitated by the needs of modern women who have little time and many demands in their daily schedules. The glory of being “supermom” may fade, but the idea of doing it all and looking good will always bring satisfaction. So don’t sweat it; you can still look presentable and polished even after that kick boxing class! By taking the stress out of dressing, it’s now possible to think of working out not as work, but as a healthy lifestyle change that will lead to looking and feeling your best.
