December is definitely the time to shine and if you want to see some serious sparkle, look no further than the new Diamond Boutique at Flower Hill Promenade. I attended their grand opening last month and couldn't wait to get back in the store when there wasn't a rockin' party going on. Once I returned, I had an even greater appreciation for this beautiful store and its incredible merchandise. Ali Digius, the owner/store manager, said, “We wanted our store to take people's breath away.” Believe me, it does.
Nasser Digius, Ali's father, travels worldwide looking for the highest quality jewelry and unique pieces for the store. The Digius family is proud to sell only conflict free diamonds. The majority of their diamonds come out of Canada from three companies: EightStar Diamond Company, Polar Bear Diamonds from the Ekiti Mine and Goose Diamonds. They use local diamond cutters right here in California and even though their diamonds cost more, they feel it's very important to have higher quality and standards.
Diamond Boutique features a vast selection of custom designed rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants made from diamonds, gem stones and pearls, platinum, white and yellow gold. They have an extensive bridal line made with only the finest diamonds and gemstones. They also offer redesigning and resetting, repair services, and watch repairs.
They carry highly regarded designer jewelry, including Mouawad, one of the most powerful and exclusive jewelers in the world. You may recognize their name because they provide Victoria's Secret with the major diamonds for their diamond bra, which is shown during their super successful holiday campaign and televised fashion show each year. Heidi Klum, (Project Runway) recently designed a brilliant contemporary line for Mouawad, the “Red Carpet Collection” which is prominently displayed in the store. Diamond Boutique also has the “Tribal Collection” from Andrea Lieberman, one of Hollywood's hottest stylists. In addition, the store carries Furrer Jacot, Judith Conway, Jacob & Co., Christian Bauer, Novell Designs Studios, Mark Schneider, Gelin and Abaci, Michael Bondanza, Polanti Watches and more.
The Digius Family wants everyone that comes into their store to be comfortable and relaxed. The exceptional sales staff has a no-pressure, laid back demeanor and they take all the time needed to educate their clients. They even have a VIP room for clients to peruse substantial pieces in a lounge environment.
The Diamond Boutique recently moved to Del Mar from the Mira Mesa area. It was Mali, the matriarch of the Digius family's idea to open the store 23 years ago. Now the entire family, (Mali, her husband, Nasser, and adult children, Ali, Natasha, Orousha and Newsha) is involved with the business. The family has always loved the Del Mar area and their goal was to eventually move the store here. After considering several mall and shopping center locations, they discovered Flower Hill Promenade. Flower Hill was an attractive option not only because of the location, but because the management invited them in and was very welcoming. They love the small town feel of the promenade and how the stores all support each other. Some of the tenants at Flower Hill have even joked about Nasser being the new unofficial mayor of Del Mar.
When asked about his outlook, Ali said, “2008 will be a very exciting year for us, as we aim to provide service above and beyond expectations.”
