Dianne York GoldmanWhen you look at Dianne York Goldman, you see a picture of beauty, style and success. When you talk with her, you see the qualities of a successful entrepreneur and dedicated philanthropist. Dianne and her husband, Dr. Mitchel Goldman are the founders of La Jolla Spa MD, which, according to American Spa Magazine, is the “Best Medical Spa in America.”

What does it take to be one of the most impressive women in San Diego? How about being president and CEO of the best medical spa in America? How about developing DYG cosmetics, an innovative mineral make up line? How about developing a new ingredient to combat fine lines and wrinkles – Vitaphenol? How about creating “You Glow, Girl!” a fantastic skin care line for teens and a series of books that promote self esteem. How about authoring an award winning children's book “Fun in the Sun Safely”? How about being on several charity and professional boards? Well, if that's what it takes, then Dianne certainly meets the criteria.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Dianne in her office. Over a cup of coffee, we chatted about her amazing wardrobe and incredible sense of style. She shared pictures of the Oscar de la Renta dress she wore to the Patrons of the Prado Circus in the Park on July 14th. What really impressed me was how she spoke about her love of the arts and her passion to help abuse victims. She is a very caring woman who wants to give back to her community. Dianne often donates time and money to shelters for abused women and children. Her most recent contribution was with Fred Segal in Los Angeles to aid women of the war ravaged region of Darfur.

Dianne is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. Not surprisingly, she was voted best-dressed in high school. She graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri with a degree in business. Instead of joining the ranks of the business world, she embraced the world of modeling. From that point, Dianne built a comprehensive portfolio working with the David and Lee agency in Chicago. She traveled worldwide modeling but eventually settled in Los Angeles with the hope of expanding her career to include film. There, she continued to do print modeling while doing guest spots on shows like Cheers and Star Trek and even appeared in several movies.

DYG ProductAfter a few years in the film industry she decided to take on a new direction in her career. She took a serious look at the wear and tear that modeling took on the skin. She was determined to develop a make up line that is actually healthy because it is mineral based and contains vitamins. After many years of research, DYG Cosmetics was launched. In the meantime, she married her soul mate, dermatologist Dr. Mitchel Goldman. Combining their expertise, they took the medical-spa concept and turned it into a world renowned multi-million dollar business.

Dianne loves to shop. However, because of a full schedule running her business, making appearances at schools to promote sun protection, and charitable commitments, she finds little time to peruse clothing racks. Luckily, she is able to utilize the services of wardrobe consultant Mahjuba Levine and Paula Tapaliba, a personal shopper. Paula makes sure Dianne always has the most fashionable items and Mahjuba organizes Dianne's closet. Together, these ladies keep her looking elegant and fashion forward whether she is working or attending a special event.

So, what's up next for Dianne? She plans on incorporating Vitaphenol, an innovative antidote for lines and sun damage, into the DYG cosmetic line. She and Dr. Goldman continue to support community events and will do a 640 mile bike ride to raise money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation in October. Also, La Jolla Spa MD will sponsor “Pretty in Pink,” a haute couture fashion show featuring fabulous designs by international designer Isabell Kristensen to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation on September 15 at the Estancia Resort in La Jolla.
