Since I started writing "Fashion Focus," I have received many intriguing questions and comments from my readers. Here are some fun examples:

Q: Marie, I followed your advice and edited my closet. After getting rid of out-of-date stuff, there's not much left and I am in need of some serious style. What do I do? —Wants to be Stylish in Solana Beach

A: First of all, congratulations! Doesn't it feel good to do away with the clutter? Next comes the best part, shopping. There is a fantastic treasure in Solana Beach called Safarlou Boutique. Sean, the owner, can have you stylish in no time. He displays many beautiful outfits put together with lovely accessories, so it couldn't be easier to get completely fashionable. He is very charming, his service is impeccable, and you will leave feeling very happy you went in.

Q: Like most moms, I am very short on time. I need new shoes and a bag for summer, a gift and card for my friend's birthday, and flip flops for my daughter. Is there any store where I can get all these things under one roof? —Wants it All on Cedros

A: You can have it all at Cedros Soles on Cedros Avenue. When you walk into this store you won't believe all the fabulous merchandise. The shoe selection is beyond amazing from $400 designer shoes to $10 flip-flops. You'll also find great purses and belts. Then there's the jewelry, a beautiful collection, including hard-to-find Me & Ro, plus IKE watches. They also have a section with greeting cards and gifts, as well as a boutique area with lingerie and women's clothing.

Q: I love shopping, but don't want to spend a minute away from my boyfriend. Is there a way I can shop for myself with my boyfriend without him getting bored? —Desperately In Love in Del Mar

A: You are in luck. Bayley, a fantastic store on the street level in the Del Mar Plaza, has trendy clothes for young women and men. The owner, Bayley Overland, is only 23 years old, but has fulfilled her lifelong dream by successfully operating her self-described modern/vintage/beachy store since last August. She targets the surfer/skater guy who is ready to dress with a little more polish. Women can peruse racks of dresses; T-shirts, shorts and active wear while men shop for themselves or watch the flat screen TV. Bayley carries a nice selection of denim, leather bags, and jewelry for both men and women, plus they have a frequent buyer program so you can save with style.

Q: Help, Mother's Day is quickly approaching, what do I buy for my wife and my mother? I don't want to get them the same kind of gifts I end up buying them every year. — Curious Man in Carmel Valley

A: Since I became a mother 10 years ago, Mother's Day has become one of my favorite holidays. Moms love being pampered and greatly deserve it. I suggest -- along with the usual breakfast in bed and flowers, of course -- something unique, for example a package of sessions with a personal trainer. The Fitness Studio on Stevens Avenue (858-205-4912) offers the first session free and a package discount in a low-key, unintimidating environment. I have been working out with my trainer there for five years. They've helped me improve my posture, strength and flexibility, build long lean muscles (rather than bulk) and maintain a healthy weight.

Since summer is right around the corner, another great gift would be a new pair of designer sunglasses from Dr. Michael Foyle's office at Beachwalk on Highway 101. For the mom that loves designer goods, sunglasses are a reasonably priced way to wear a designer label. Their salespeople are extremely knowledgeable and educated on the latest trends in eyewear. Also, they offer gift certificates in case you have trouble picking out the perfect pair.
